For Dancehall artiste Jamal ‘1Dunceman’, returning to Magnum Reggae Sumfest is more than another performance opportunity - it is a chance to show his growth, strengthen his connection with fans and prove that his journey in the music industry is gaining momentum.
The Montego Bay native is preparing to make his second appearance on the iconic festival stage as excitement builds for Magnum Reggae Sumfest: A Taste of Reggae Sumfest, set for Plantation Cove in St Ann on Saturday, July 18.
After getting his first official taste of the Sumfest experience in 2025, Jamal said he is motivated to return with an even stronger performance and create another memorable moment for supporters.
"Sumfest gave me an opportunity last year to deliver to my home fans in Montego Bay.Now we ah pree ah new location....I'm still excited to turn up and make a bigger impact than before," Jamal said.
For the artiste, being selected for the festivals line-up represents an important milestone in his career.
He believes Sumfest continues to be one of the most respected platforms for Jamaican entertainers, where established names and rising stars share the same stage.
"Many people see Reggae Sumfest as the stage for the icons in the business and the hottest entertainers locally. Almost like if you no deh pon Sumfest, you nah do nuttn. And it's a good feeling to be considered in that list," Jamal said.
The artiste has been building a strong following through his music, with his breakout single Faada earning more than eight million views on YouTube.
The success of the song has helped introduce him to a wider audience, but Jamal said he remains focused on improving his craft and delivering more quality music.
